First celebrated in 1911, International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day commemorating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. IWD offers a platform for individuals and businesses to raise awareness about women's equality and the importance of accelerating gender parity.
The campaign theme for IWD 2022 is #BreakTheBias. Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn't enough. Action is needed to level the playing field.
At Staffline, we take gender equality in the workplace very seriously. Over the years, we have implemented various initiatives to ensure women's inclusion across all levels of the business.
Last year we launched our Diversity and Inclusion Charter, with commitments that will move Staffline to become a more equitable organisation, with the following aim: 'To achieve a 50:50 gender balance in all levels of our business by 2025', through our 3 core commitments:
- To ensure that any job shortlist for a Staffline vacancy has a fair gender balance, is diverse and, where possible, assessed by at least one female and one male manager.
- To continue to address our attraction strategies and build the learning and development tools specific to our Remarkable Women at Staffline to support their progress.
- To continue the educational journey of gender diversity for everyone in our business.
In the last year, Staffline has enrolled 28 female colleagues onto the Remarkable Women Leadership Programme, with access to 12 masterclasses throughout the year, focussing on leadership qualities and self-awareness.
The modules include;
- Create Your Experience
- The Art of Queen Leadership
- Master Your Mind
- Unlock Your Mission
- Develop Exceptional Relationships
- Create Change Through Habits
- Energy & Vitality
- The Powerful Request
- Boundaries - Doing What Really Matters
- The Potential of Connection
- Money
- The Infinite Leadership Mindset
Vicky Hoy, Director of Branches at Staffline, has been on the programme since early 2021. She had the following to say about the programme:
"By applying the ‘Queen’ principles and asking myself ‘how am I creating this?’ in situations has enabled me to open or close gates that represent boundaries. I have stopped letting so much traffic through and am working on being confident enough to say ‘no’ when needed – by choosing differently I am trying to avoid always being in a ‘busy’ space."
We're also proud to share that, throughout 2021, there were 45 promotions or secondments amongst our female colleagues, 19 of which were Manager level or above.
As part of Staffline's mission to #BreakTheBias, from April 1st 2022, we'll be making our 'Unconscious Bias' learning module on our Learning Experience Platform (LXP), mandatory. The decision to include this module on the LXP was made in direct support of one of our 3 core commitments, 'To continue the educational journey of gender diversity for everyone in our business'.
